Start of Something New: LIVE Streaming

This week, I participated in my first Idle Tuesdays livestream!

I had the pleasure of standing beside fellow intern Connor Hadden as my very talented friend Natalie Chan taught the both of us some vocal warmup exercises! Having taken vocal lessons in the past, I knew how important it is to properly and carefully warm up your voice before you sing, so I was very excited to be a part of this livestream!

It didn’t start off super easily though, as we had some technical difficulties getting the live stream up and running.

We had many false starts, but soon, we were live and good to go! Natalie led us through her list of vocal exercises, and before I knew it, we were done! Getting off the air was difficult too, and Connor actually had to run out from in front of the camera to help us figure out how to stop streaming. As hectic as this experience was, I am glad I got to see what happened and what I need to look out for next time to make sure our live stream goes more smoothly.

The Idle Tuesdays spring interns put on a Facebook livestream every week, so I need to make sure I know my stuff!

I was nervous to be on air for the first time, but the rest of the interns created such a warm, playful space that I quickly got used to it and I ended up laughing a lot!

I loved seeing how all the equipment and technology came together to make one big livestream, and I think I gained some very useful and informative experience.

I can’t wait to lead my own livestream in the future, as well as experience what it will be like to man the cameras and participate in the other aspects of the live stream.
