Idle Individuals, Innovative Interns

This week at Idle Tuesdays, we interns gathered and discussed potential clients for our 2017 Program Artist. Coming out of a strong musical circle at Azusa Pacific University, I felt pretty confident that I’d be able to find some talent that would be willing to have a FREE EP recorded by yours truly.

Who wouldn’t want that, right?

Well, apparently only 2 people were interested.

Needless to say, I was a little discouraged that only a couple of friends wanted to come in and meet. I was worried that bringing a mere 2 potential clients to my meeting with the other interns would not have been enough. In my head, I placed all of the responsibility on myself to get this task done.

Ironically, it took not getting the job done for me to realize that I need to rely on others.

The other interns delivered a number of artists that we might be able to work with. We then put our heads together and came up with a schedule and a plan to stream the auditions on Facebook Live. Working with Andrew and Alyssa that day taught me that things only happen when other people are involved. We like to think we can get everything done ourselves, but it’s the strength of the team that makes a product happen. It was because of the whole group that we were able to compile a GREAT list of songwriters.

Now it’s just a matter of picking the best artist possible.
